Our first speaker of the semester was Mr. Carter who is the TV studio assistant. He works directly with the weekly News studio on campus. Before his visit, I was not aware of the News segments that students participated in. Mr. Carter explained the news studio provides students with hands-on experience building skills that are relevant in the production industry. Students learn to gather news worthy information produce and present the information. His visit to our class was very entertaining it was partially the inspiration for our News Talk Show. We visited the studio and he showed us the professional grade equipment. The studio provides an environment for students to learn for themselves. Mr. Carter says there is about 6-8 students actively working in different roles like anchor, camera, and audio. He believes it is important for everyone to have some experience in all areas of production. Using these experiences on our resumes can help us stand out on internship and job applications.
