Killer Mike Trigger Warning: Living While Black S1 E1

In the first episode of Trigger Warning famous rap artist, Killer Mike was “living black”. Essentially only using black-owned goods and services for the duration of three days. He did this to keep his money flowing in the black community instead of giving it to major white corporations. At the beginning of his journey, he quickly realizes the biggest issue is that many of the food products are produced by white corporations. Products by white corporations show up on all the shelves in stores making them more convenient than searching for the black equivalent. This is shown in the episode threw transportation, technology and even restaurants. Support in the black community will boost the black economy making our community stronger. When we buy black products and eat at black restaurants we allow for our people to thrive, encouraging growth in our community. It is difficult to live black now but we need to be able to sustain ourselves economically. This episode shows we need to rely less on white products because in doing so we grow their value. Which casts a shadow over related black products. We have a responsibility to buy black every chance we get. Through the support of the black community black-owned products can compete on the shelves with these main stream products.
