After watching Vida Williams’s Ted talk about what citizen data is and why it is essential. I realize that I have participated in unintentionally voting on my exposure data. I was not aware of the data that I put out and how it effects my future decisions. The data universe is massive and it tracks nearly every decision made by our citizens. As Americans I know we do not enjoy being tracked, but with this data we can influence of our communities. Like Vitas example of Whole foods and the local farmers, our goals for our data can be a reflection of our desires and ethics. We can support local black owned and minority businesses, and keep the dollar in our communities. Everything begins with us.
